Working through the VLinc Board of Directors and the Corporate Advancement Team, Janis clearly defines VLinc’s brand, mission, values, and goals that drive business model implementation throughout the year and help establish long-range growth strategies.

Janis brings a diverse professional background in aviation, human performance, human systems integration, and organizational strategy development to the VLinc team. He has over 35 years of military and corporate experience leading day-to-day operations to drive the processes and procedures that facilitate the achievement of organizational growth through high-quality delivery and dedicated support to customers and employees.

Over the past 20+ years, he has served in various C-Suite and Management roles for large and small organizations, primarily focusing on delivering management consulting expertise across a broad range of defense, federal, and commercial clients. His 20-year Coast Guard career began as a Marine Science Technician, transitioning to the Officer Corps in 1987. After attending flight school, he served as a rotary wing aviator, standardization team instructor pilot, and HH-60J asset manager at Coast Guard Headquarters. He holds a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus and earned a bachelor’s degree in professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Reading Recommendations: No surprise based on his lead-in, Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World, written by David Epstein, had a significant impact on him, reinforcing what he has always felt about being pushed into one functional role. Another recent addition to his best-of-list, Loonshots: How to Nurture the Crazy Ideas That Win Wars, Cure Diseases, and Transform Industries by Safi Bahcall. Awesome book! It is a must-read for organizational leaders who truly want to innovate but struggle to make it a reality. If he is looking for distraction, he goes for Carl Hiaasen, Kyle Milles, Mark Greaney, and several other solid fiction writers.
